| JAKARTA: Eight people were killed and eight injured on Sunday when unidentified men attacked villagers in the religiously divided Poso district of Indonesia's Sulawesi island, an Indonesian news agency said. The cause of the clash was not immediately clear but it sparked fears of a resurgence of Christian-Muslim battles in the district in recent years. The armed men descended on three villages in a coastal area early Sunday and attacked residents, report said. The news agency gave the names of the dead, which include three women, but did not indicate if they were all villagers. Poso has been ravaged by clashes between Muslims and Christians since 2000 which have killed up to 1,000 people. | ||
